Police in Ekiti State have re-arrested about 110 inmates who escaped from Ado-Ekiti Prisons on November 30 last year.

The police also apprehended 30 robbery suspects in the last few weeks.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, said this in Ado-Ekiti.

Lakanu, who spoke through the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Albert Adeyemi, said the various security measures put in place by the command were yielding results.

He said the police had put up various structures, which had given room for constant patrol and raid the state of criminals’ hideouts.

The CP added that the reluctant effects of the new efforts made possible the arrest of suspected. criminals and fleeing inmates.

He commended Ekiti State Government and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, for donating patrol vans to the command, saying it had helped in stemming the tide of robbery and othe associated crimes in the state.

Lakanu said the command would make its hotlines known to all residents of the state, which they could call when in distress.

This, according to him, formed part of the strategies put in place to rid the state of crimes.

The commissioner of Police added that more pin down and foot patrol operations had been intensified in some satellite towns within Ado-Ekiti metropolis and remote areas that were not motorable.

This, according to him, is to compliment the 24-hour patrol on highways and inner cities by his men
