The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has mourned the death of former assembly member, Hon. Yomi Daramola, describing his demise as a huge loss to the state.
The Speaker, in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, stated that the news of Hon Daramola’s death came to him as a shock.
Late Hon. Daramola who hailed from Ikere Ekiti Constituency 1, the same constituency as Speaker Afuye, served in the 4th Assembly.
“To say that Ikere Community and Ekiti State as a whole will miss Yomi Daramola is an understatement,” Afuye said.
The Speaker described the late lawmaker as a very humble politician who would not hurt a fly. He, therefore, commiserated with the family that Daramola left behind, praying that “the good Lord will give all of us the fortitude to bear this huge loss.”
The speaker announced that the State House of Assembly which is currently on recess shall converge on Friday 15, 2021 to hold a special plenary session for their departed colleague.
He noted that “the former lawmaker deserves our last respect because ever since he left the Assembly in 2015, he never dragged its name in the mud.”
Afuye urged the family to accept their breadwinner’s demise with fortitude. “The Bible says: ‘the righteous is taken away before the evil day.’ He left a good legacy behind.”
