A Kaduna-based politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Umar Sani Nalema was over the weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, turbaned as the Katukan Hausawa Ibadanland, otherwise known as the Otun Baale of Sabo Ibadanland, during which he canvassed for the promotion of inter-state integration by the various state governments in Nigeria to further boost national unity.

Alhaji Umar Sani who is the Vice Chairman of Nasiru El-Rufai Media Forum was conferred with the honorary chieftaincy title by the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Dahiru Zungeru “in recognition of his remarkable contributions and selfless services to community development in the area.”

While commending the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland for honouring him with the chieftaincy title, which is the Second-in-Command in the Hausa community, Alhaji Umar Sani remarked that inter-state integration among the various state governments would reinforce sustainable peace in the nation.

The APC stalwart noted with delight that Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State has already put in place a policy whereby anybody who is born in the state automatically becomes a citizen of the state with equal rights and privileges.

In addition, he said, Governor El-Rufai presently has in his cabinet indigenes of other geo-political zones of the country including Yorubas from the SouthWest states who have been performing their roles excellently well without molestation.

“Once you are born in any state, you should be able to share the benefits and privileges of the state without hinderance,” Alhaji Umar Sani reiterated just as he called for improved inter-ethnic relationship between the Hausa and their host communities.

He said:  “I will like the good people of Yorubaland to reciprocate the good thing Governor El-Rufai is doing by incorporating people of other tribes into their cabinets.”

“This will not only give these ethnic groups sense of belonging, but it will further enhance national unity, peace and concord.”

Alhaji Umar Sani specifically charged all northerners resident in Oyo State to continue to rally support for the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, saying that “the governor is friendly to northerners.”
