The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has hailed the judgment of the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The party said the victory is for the people of Ondo State, who abandoned everything on October 10, 2020, to cast their votes.
The Ondo State election petitions tribunal sitting in Akure on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede against that of the APC candidates, Rotimi Akeredolu who was returned re-elected last October.
The chapter congratulated its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his running mate, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, and all the teeming supporters of APC in the State.
The party said: “They have all been vindicated by the sound judgment.
“We commended the Tribunal for being dispassionate, and objective in considering all the arguments, and counter-arguments assembled before it, while the trial lasted.
“The party further showers appreciation on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for sticking to what is fair and reasonable.
“The party wonders how a candidate that scored 3 over 18 in an examination could expect to be declared successful, adding “the People’s Democratic Party wanted victory through the backdoor”.
“It advises the main opposition party to accept the judgment in good faith, and put its house in order, while preparing for future elections.”
