*Says Foreign Observers to Remain in Nigeria
By Thomas Richard, Oyo
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has admonished Nigerians to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) with grit determination and patience in the 2019 elections rescheduled to hold on February 23.
Speaking through his campaign spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the candidate said that the game is up for the ruling party and the only way to defeat them is through unparalleled resolve and vigilance.
Makinde appealed to foreign observers not to leave the country in frustration because that is exactly what the ruling party are hoping to achieve having done everything possible to discourage them from coming.
Makinde said in spite of having 3 years to plan and numerous reassurances up till last week, INEC waited till 5 hours to the commencement of the election before announcing its cancellation.
According to the statement, “It was strange and bizarre on the statement credited to the President that he could not be unseated as it further fuelled the anger and frustration across the land.
“Billions of Naira have been sunk into the preparation apart from massive movements of people and rescheduling of thousands of personal and official arrangements have been wasted all because of a party’s inordinate ambition to cling to power by all means”.
Engr Makinde assured Nigerians and the people of Oyo State that the election would hold and the wish of the people will triumph.
He appealed to the people to be calm as their anguish would soon be over when PDP wins the election.
