Hundreds of Electricity consumers stormed many branches of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), to complain over the new billing system adopted by the company.
The new system has forced consumers to get separate meters for each flat in the same building.
A building with six or four flats, by the new system, is to have 14 and eight meters respectively.
Findings revealed that many buildings would now be forced to get more meters and that cannot contend with getting estimated bills until they get meters.
Some of the consumers spoken to in Ibadan metropolis feared that the IBEDC wanted to be forcing them to pay for what they did not consume.
They wondered who would be responsible for the payment of new meters to complement the existing ones.
When our Correspondent spoke with two of IBEDC managers, they refused the suggestion that they wanted to be extorting their customers adding that it was a new national policy not restricted to Oyo State.
As to when new meters would be available and who would pay for the cost, the Managers who wanted to be anonymous declined answers to the questions.
On when the pre-paid meters would be available to avoid the extortion which the new system would cause, the managers said that they could not provide a clue.
Our Correspondent called the Public Relations Manager thrice but refused the call and he did not respond to the SMS sent to her to confirm the devopment.
