Hundreds of Ilorin Emirate descendants on Thursday were at the Ilorin International airport to welcome the Emir of Kano, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who is on a 3-day official visit to the ancient Emirate city.
Some dignitaries from the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and notable sons of Ilorin Emirate were at the airport to receive him.
The Emir who landed at the airport at exactly 1:45pm in the company of some traditional chiefs was given a rousing welcome as he descended from the plane.
Cultural dancers, trumpeters and drummers also found their ways into the airport to welcome the royal majesty with sounds of drums and songs renting the air.
Commercial tricycle riders conveyed some residents to the airport to receive the royal father.
Several horse riders dressed in beautiful regalia were seen waiting for the Emir at the General hospital area while residents and commuters stopped to catch a glimpse of the rich cultural display.
Security personnel from the Nigeria police force, Department of State Security, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, as well as local vigilante personnel, were seen maintaining peace and orderliness.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, were at various locations from Ilorin General hospital to Sawmill road and down to the airport road, to ensure free flow of traffic.
The Emir of Kano is on a 3-day official visit will tomorrow pay a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
