Major roads in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital on Tuesday witnessed gridlock following roadblock mounted by angry youths demanding justice over activities of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in recent time.
Roads in Agodi along the state Secretariat, Ojoo, UI, Iwo Road, Bashorun, Mokola Round About and others were blocked by the angry youths, causing serious gridlock in the state capital during their protest.
Motorists, especially commercial vehicles had to look for alternative routes while private vehicles were stranded in the long traffic.
Efforts by the state commissioner for Youths and Sport, Honourable Fakorede to address the situation failed as the angry youths threaten to unleash violence if he dares address them.
Fear the of what the protest may lead to, many motorists and market people vacated their shops and headed back home, a development which led to a hike in transport fare.
