The panel of inquiry set up by the Ondo State governor over police brutality in the state said its received 32 petitions so far.
The panel of inquiry is headed by the Hon. Justice Adesola Sidiq rtd commenced its sittings on Thursday.
The constitution of the nine-man panel of Inquiry was commissioned base on law of Ondo state 2006, by His Excellency, Rotimi Akeredolu on 20th October, 2020.
It was commissioned to ensure that Justice is done in addressing complaints of Police brutality, extra Judicial killings and infringement of the fundamental Human rights of the people of Ondo State by some officers of the disbanded SARS.
The Chairman of the Commission, Hon Justice Adesola Sidiq said that the commission will continue to receive petitions as they intend to accord everyone an equal opportunity to attain justice as long as they are ready to pursue it before the panel.
However, he said the panel has listed all the cases submitted to it, with dates and time of hearing which according to him, would also be published immediately after the inaugural sitting to enable petitioners, respondents and other parties involved.
Justice Adesola, therefore, concluded that the panel would stick to its terms of reference which include receiving and investigating complaints of Police brutality, human rights violations and other related extra Judicial killings and other police officers alike.
