Steven Gerrard marked his Liverpool return by scoring as the Reds came from behind to win at bottom club Leicester.
The hosts led when Leonardo Ulloa’s shot hit the post then bounced off the back of keeper Simon Mignolet’s head.
But Liverpool equalised as Adam Lallana netted after Rickie Lambert’s knock down, before Gerrard scored after a poor Wes Morgan clearance.
Morgan was sent off for a foul on Lambert, then Jordan Henderson sealed a deserved Reds win.
And at Old Trafford, Manchester United continued their recent revival with a fourth straight win which strengthens their place in the Premier League top four.
The home side led when Marouane Fellaini headed in Ander Herrera’s left-wing cross at the far post.
Stoke equalised through Steven N’Zonzi’s low shot, but they slipped to a third straight loss when Juan Mata’s free-kick from the right sneaked in.
However, Stoke’s Mame Biram Diouf was twice denied an injury-time equaliser.
At the Hawthorns, West Ham centre-back James Tomkins’ first goal in two years sent struggling West Brom to a fourth straight defeat.
Craig Dawson ended Albion’s 323-minute Premier League goal drought when he glanced in Graham Dorrans’ free-kick.
But Kevin Nolan nodded in to equalise after keeper Ben Foster had pushed out Andy Carroll’s overhead kick.
And Tomkins increased the pressure on West Brom boss Alan Irvine by heading in Stewart Downing’s corner in first-half stoppage time, reports the BBC.
