Contrary to reports that he spent the night at the EFCC detention centre in Lagos, former Federal Inland Revenue Service boss, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, was released on Monday night on bail.
He was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Fowler honoured the invitation on Monday at the commission’s office in Lagos.
On Tuesday morning, finishing touches were being put to the administrative bail.
A civil servant of up to Grade Level 16 was being expected to stand surety for the former FIRS boss.
WESTERN POST learnt that Fowler only honoured the invitation in respect of some transactions when he was boss of Lagos Inland Revenue Service.
Fowler was first LIRS chief executive before he was appointed as FIRS boss in Abuja.
