Former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Proprietor of The Wings Schools, Iwo, Osun State, Prof. Lai Olurode, was at the weekend honoured and decorated as a member of Red Cross Society of Nigeria.

The investiture ceremony performed at The Wings Schools was attended by important dignitaries across the country including some Islamic clerics.

Osun State Chairman of Red Cross Society, Elder Demola Ojo, who decorated Prof. Olurode, eulogized the good virtues of the former INEC National Commissioner for South-west and prayed extensively for the Wings Schools.

He asked the university don to assist the society in order for it to be well equipped to assist humanity.

Olurode thanked the society for considering him worthy of being recognized but stated that the investiture is for the school and not for him as an individual.

He emphasized the need for all to have a sense of volunteerism by creating time to volunteer and give support to the needy.

Prof. Olurode also admonished those present at the occasion to try and elevate people’s lives in whatever form, lamenting that in the society our minds had been tuned towards the wrong notion that not all lives are sacred.

“God has given humanity enough capacity to cater for the whole world,” he said.

Also in attendance at the occasion were members of the Red Cross Society and members of the Wings School management Committee including the school’s principal, Alhaji Nafiu Lateef, Alhaji Remi Shittu and wife of the proprietor of the school, Alhaja Olurode.
