Having tasted victory in Edo, where Governor Godwin Obaseki defected and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, People Democratic Party(PDP) is baying for more blood.
The party’s governors are now in Benin, Edo State capital to strategise to capture Ondo State, although they claimed they were in the ancient town to thank the Oba of Benin as they promised to do if they won the poll.
Ondo governorship election holds on Saturday, October 10. The party’s governorship candidate is Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, who contested and lost the 2016 election to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is one of the top contenders in what promises to be a three-way affair.
WESTERN POST correspondents glimpsed the PDP governors as they arrived Benin on Tuesday.
Sighted at the airport among others are Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).
Some of them arrived together while others arrived one after another. They headed for the Government House in Benin. They later headed for Oba of Benin’s palace. But sources said they may move to another location today to hold their strategy meeting.
APC governors were divided in respect of Edo election with a majority of them working for PDP candidate Obaseki in the last September 19 election.
The seed of discord and anti-party activity may have been sown within the party which may also rob off on the Ondo election.
