Indications have emerged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state may accept the sole candidature late Federal lawmaker, Hon Adedayo Omolafe’s wife, Mrs Taiwo Omolafe to complete his tenure in office as a House of Representative member.
Recently in Akure, Hon Omolafe died after a brief illness.
Sources told Westernpost that the people of Akure South and North across party boards are seriously agitating that the widow, Mrs Omolafe be allowed to finish the last leg of her husband’s tenure in office as the House Of Representative member representing Akure south/North Constituency.
However, our correspondent also gathered that Akure sons and daughters in – respective of the party affiliations have agreed that the PDP in the state should give the widow the chance to complete her husband’s tenure till 2023.
A source noted that the agitations and consultations are borne out of the fact that the late Federal Lawmaker was a good man to all and sundry in the two Local governments he represented and as well, had arranged on ground his empowerment programs which he slated for next month.
The Chieftains of the party are seriously at a tight corner over the faithful decision, saying that the woman is never a card-carrying and financial member of the party which some elements argued that she should not be considered for the elective position.
The inputs of the two elders of the party in the state will determine whether or not the woman will be considered or dropped.
Meanwhile, the governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu had said it during his visit to the widow that ,he would have loved it if the election into the position is left for the woman to complete her husband’s tenure without any rancour based on the good – will of the man.
It is not now clear if the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state will slog it out massively with the widow, Mrs Taiwo Adedayo Omolafe base on the recommendation of Mr Governor on 16 August ,2021 during his condolence visit.
It was learnt that almost all the traditional rulers in the two local governments have agreed that the woman be endorsed to run under the party’s umbrella for the position as a compensation to the man and the family he left behind over his good deeds while alive.
Hon . Adedayo Omolafe popularly known as “Expensive” until his death was a member of the House of Representatives representing Akure South/North Federal Constituency.
According to a family source, he will be buried on 16th September, 2021 at his residence in Akure, the state capital.
