The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has felicitated with the Alaaye of Oke-Ayedun Ekiti, Oba Jacob Fatunase Ala, Okunoye II, on his 100th birthday celebration.
Fayemi said Oba Ala deserved to be celebrated on this milestone on account of his sterling achievements in the service of God and country as well as his effective guidance and leadership of the people of Oke-Ayedun Ekiti in particular and Ekiti State in general.
The minister, in a personally-signed congratulatory letter addressed to the monarch, dated August 12, 2016, said the noble roles Oba Ala had been playing in the preservation and celebration of the Ekiti culture and tradition, as one of the most revered traditional rulers in Yoruba land, remained a source of pride to Ekiti people.
“We are also proud of your legacy as one of those who worked hard to lay the solid foundation of qualitative education in the Southwest as well as your service to God as one of the early leaders of the Methodist Church in Southwest, Nigeria.
“Indeed, you have become an embodiment of our timeless Ekiti value- of integrity, faith and service. The same values you have consistently demonstrated since the days of your career as a progressive bureaucrat in the service of the now defunct Western Region till today.
“My wife and I join the good people of Oke-Ayedun and the entire Ekiti people to wish you a happy birthday and many more years in good health,” the minister added.
