Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose has forwarded the names of three Commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for approval.
The nominees are Barrister Owoseni Ajayi as Attorney General and Commissioner for justice, Mr. Kayode Oso, Commissioner for Works, and Chief Toyin Ojo, Commissioner for Finance.
The Speaker of the House, Dr. Adewale Omirin read the Governor’s request as contained in a letter to the Assembly.
Meanwhile the State Assembly has also passed a resolution mandating the State Government to participate in the Central Bank’s N220 billion Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund.
The resolution was sequel to the request of the state Governor, Ayo Fayose in a letter addressed to the House and was also read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Adewale Omirin at plenary in Ado-Ekiti.
Members of the House unanimously supported the request, following a motion by the majority Leader of the House, Hon. Churchill Adedipe who was seconded by Hon. Tope Agidi, Ekiti South West I, noting it would improve commercial activities in the state and significantly improve the living standard of the people.
Hon. Adedipe clarified that the N220 billion Central Bank fund was meant for all states of the Federation with Ekiti eligible to assess only N2billion.
The lawmakers, however, charged the State Government to judiciously utilise the fund when it is finally assessed.
