——-Seeks Govt Support for Mass Production
As part of Corporate responsibility , the Federal College of Education, Okene has donated hand Sanitizers to Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ , Kogi State Council .
Presenting the Sanitizers to NUJ in Lokoja on Friday , the Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Ovansa Otohomorihi Peter, stated that the sanitizer was produced by the Department Chemistry in the wake of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Ovansa pointed out that production was occasioned by the novel COVID-19 virus that has assumed pandemic proportion all over the world.
“Federal college of Education ,Okene have many reasons to be grateful as we recall how swift action of the Ministry of Health watch in immediately contacting the Management as soon as it got the wind of the arrival into the country of one of our member of staff who was on lthe Study leave in Malaysia and prompt advisory to the college to inform the staff to commence self isolation for 14 days in line with global protocol for curtailing the spread of Coronavirus.
“To this end , we want to use this opportunity to seek for the support of the State government through the Ministry of Health towards expanding the FCE ,Okene hand Sanitizer production capacity so that we can be able to provide much needed first line defence against the deadly COVID-19 to not only the College Immediate community, but also to all parts of Kogi State” ,he said .
In his remarks ,the Chairman of Kogi State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists , Comrade Adeiza Momoh jimoh commended the College for taken a bold step further in the fight against Coronavirus in Kogi State .
The Chairman noted this came in the period pandemic in search of cure, urging the college to do more
in order to get cure for the COVID-19.
