The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) will on Saturday, 4th of November, 2017 confers over 200 graduates with First Degrees in Various disciplines.
The Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Angela Freeman Miri disclosed this on Monday at a Pre-Convocation news conference in Lokoja.
She said the management of the institution is determined not to delay unduly students from graduating in record time, a kind of situation which she said often makes candidates prefer to travel abroad to study.
“We shall continue to do everything within our power to avert situations that would culminate in accumulating arrears of convocation”.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the convocation is the second of its kinds in the history of FUL.
On some of the achievement recorded by the institution since it establishment, Professor Angela hinted that, the National University Commission (NUC) has accredited all the established programmes in the Faculty of Arts, and Social Science and has given interim accreditation in the Faculty of Sciences.
Apart from accreditation of courses, the Vice Chancellor also stated that effort are already in place to take-off Post Graduate education in the institution.
“Federal University Lokoja is mindful of the need to improve postgraduate education in our country, therefore careful planning for its take-off in FUL would guarantee a new revolution in post graduate education with a view to providing solutions to the challenges of our community in particular and the nation in general, especially in all sectors and sub-sectors of the economy,” she added.
On the movement to the Parment site of the Federal University,Lokoja,the ViceChancellor stated that the bid to move to the enviable height envisioned.
She said, “We have realized that there can be no meaning impact or advancement if we do not commence operation at Permanent site,Felele along Lokoja-Okene road.
“I stated that our desire to move to the parmanent site.The 2017 convocation ceremony will take place at the permanent site, Felele and the event obviously marking the gradual movement commencement of operations at our permanent”.
She also reiterated the management efforts to ensure the institution commences more programmes for accreditation after the full in all science programmes.
