FG Breaks Labour, Reaches Agreement with Joe Ajaero Faction

The Federal Government has broken down Labour’s tough stance on the removal of fuel subsidy and may have stopped the planned strike over the hike in fuel price by the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Negotiations with Comrade Ayuba Waba-led NLC, which is insisting on strike broke down. Comrade Waba and his colleagues later walked out of the meeting and insisted that the strike would begin on Wednesday.

The FG later reached an agreement with Joe Ajaero faction of NLC, which is opposed to the strike.

Waba had earlier said the final decision on whether the strike would begin on Wednesday would be taken after the dialogue with the Federal Government.

But the dialogue between government’s representatives and Waba-led NLC was inconclusive following which the government turned to the Ajaero-faction.

Ajaero confirmed the agreement with government on Tuesday night, saying strike was not the next option but to negotiate with the government.
