FGN-UBEC/ Oyo SUBEB Intervention Project Opens Bid On 198 Contracts

Oyo State Government on Monday carried out the bid opening exercise on 198 project contracts to be awarded under the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB )and the Federal Government Universal Basic Education Commission,(UBEC) Action Plan.

The bid opening  which took place at the premises of the OYO-SUBEB was carried out to  in the presence of various tenders to ensure transparency, openness, integrity and fairness and in  strict compliance to the Oyo State Public Procurement Act 2010

The Executive Chairman of the OYO-SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran, disclosed  that the 198 contacts which are about to be rolled out were arrived at having done a critical needs assessment and making anavoidable changes in the earlier approved 2018 FGN-UBEC /OYOSUBEB Action Plan for the educational sector in the State.

Dr Adeniran listed the project as follows the construction of  five model schools, construction of six ECD pilot centre, construction of 32 lots of three classrooms and construction 15 lots of four classrooms

Others are boreholes with tank and tank stand ( 40 lots), renovation of 59 blocks of classrooms, procurement of furniture ( 36 lots), procurement of sports equipment (3 lots), procurement of 16 motorcycles (1lot) and procurement of Hilux van (1lot)

He hinted that the Board is already in the process of accessing the 2019 FGN- UBEC/OYOSUBEB  Intervention Fund stating that approval for the release of the State Counterpart Fund had been made by the State Government

The OYOSUBEB  boss, urged successful bidders to do a thorough job and ensure speedy competition of the projects warning that the administration will not tolerate any form of time wastage as far as project execution is concerned.

In an interview with journalists, Dr Adeniran said the Board cannot afford to be slowed down adding that the government of Engr. Seyi Makinde wants things to be fine with swift dispatch.

“Some of these things are to be used by our pupils and students in public primary and junior secondary schools respectively and we wouldn’t want a kind of delay where the construction will not be made available on time, materials required will not be supplied on time

“The conditions for engaging them will be clearly stated in the letter of awards to the winners appealing that they comply with the content of the letter.

Earlier, in an address by the Acting Executive Secretary, OYO- SUBEB, Mr Adeniyi O.J said the efforts of the State Government to correct the ills of the past entails a collaborative effort by all and sundry, financially, morally and intellectually.

Oyo State Coordinator, UBEC, Dr. ( Mrs) Lydia Gbagi in a chat with newsmen, described as cordial relationship between Commission and OYO- SUBEB adding that the State is coming up in the area of accessing intervention Funds in the education sector
