The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the National Working Committee (NWC) earlier scheduled for Monday is to hold on Tuesday at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja by 12 noon.
The National Publicity Secretary, APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu in a statement on Monday said “all members of the NWC are expected to attend as important matters concerning the party will be considered and deliberated at the meeting.”
Recall that a Court of Appeal on Monday stayed the execution order of a High Court restraining the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from further acting in that capacity.
The national executive council meeting was on Monday postponed over pending court issues relating to who is the Chairman of the leading party in the country.
Governor of Kebbi state, Atiku Bagudu disclosed this to state house correspondents at the end of a meeting that he and his colleagues held with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Bagudu, who is chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, said the postponement was at the instance of the governors.
Among those who met the president are Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Muhammadu Yahaya (Gombe), and Babagana Zulum (Borno).
Others are Abubakar Bello (Niger), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Aminu Masari (Katsina), and Hope Uzodinma ( Imo).
Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa were also in attendance.
The leaders of the party were divided over the meeting. On Sunday, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling party, had described the meeting scheduled for Tuesday as illegal.
Supporters of Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC, had said those plotting to oust him were behind the meeting.
