The Kwara State Government in the early hours of Thursday demolished the Saraki’s ancestral political home, Ile-Arúgbó, in Ilorin.
Western Post correspondent gathered that the building was demolished with the supervision of heavy security operatives after dispersing the ‘occupants’ which included aged women and some loyal Saraki’s youths.
Loyalists of Saraki were seen at the vicinity protesting the act.
The condemned the demolition suggesting that the virgin land beside the ancient Ile-arugbo should have been used for the purpose the state government stated.
Western Post correspondent also gathered that the government of the day promised to revoke other public properties acquired illegal by anyone
It would be recalled that the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had revoked the allocation given late Olusola Saraki due to alleged infractions in acquiring the land.
An earlier statement released by the governor aide, Rafiu Ajakaiye, said the land was originally meant for Government Secretariat and parking space of the Civil Service Clinic.
But that it was unlawfully allocated to a private firm, Asa Investments Limited, without any record of payment to the state government.
