The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, has sent a goodwill message to the people of the state on the occassion of this year’s Christmas celebrations.
According to Folarin, Christmas is a time and a season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, adding that, through the season, we have learnt from His life and teachings that we are to cherish peace and be of goodwill, and live a life of love and forgiveness.
In a statement by his Director of Media and Strategy, Victor Oluwadamilare, he appealed to motorists and other road users to drive carefully obey traffic rules and shun the temptation to drink and drive.
“This season of joy, happiness and felicitations should not be turned into a season of grief by kill-joy drivers,” noting that “It is only the living that celebrates”.
As the New Year ushers in freshness and renewed hope, Folarin prayed that “we all come together to move Oyo State forward and make it the place of our dreams”.
He also used the occasion of this yuletide to appeal to PDP members in the state to close ranks and work for the success of the party in the next year’s general election.
According to him: “It is time to fully reconcile ourselves, put aside personal interests and approach the imminent general elections with the determination to succeed at the polls”, saying “This is the least that is expected from us by our teeming supporters across the state”.
“We must not shy away from the responsibility that providence has placed on our shoulders to salvage the present state of despair,” the statement warned.
