The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has ordered immediate removal of Kogi State Police Commissioner, Ali Janga, over the escape of some suspects held in Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) cell in Lokoja, the state capital.
The spokesperson for the Police, Jimoh Moshood, said in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon that IGP Idris was not happy over the circumstances surrounding the escape of the suspects.
Idris also ordered the transfer of the Commander of FSARS in Kogi state and other police officers indicted in the escape of the suspects.
“The Commander FSARS in the State, the Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division, Lokoja and other Police officers implicated in the escape for negligence, dereliction of duty and gross misconduct in the escape of the six (6) suspects have also been transferred out of the State and are facing serious disciplinary action. Thirteen (13) other Police officers are currently being detained and investigated for their roles in the escape.”
