Though he has been known to be planning to run for the governorship of Ekiti State for some time now. Former Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (rtd.) on Saturday, however, formally announced his intention to contest the June 21 governorship election.
The former minister left President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet two weeks ago. He declared his intention in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital..
He said his administration’s programmes would be fashioned after the transformation agenda of President Jonathan to bring development to the state as being obtainable at the federal level.
Olubolade spoke during a reception organised in his honour by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
He said he was not going to run up debts to finance state projects.
There are a total of 26 aspirants in the PDP governorship race in Ekiti at present. the party has fixed its primaries for March 15.
