Akinbade a former chairman of PDP in the state submitted his letter of intent to the party secretariat amid jubilation by hundreds of his supporters who trooped to the street to support him.
While addressing the party leaders and supporters at the parts’s secretariat, Akinbade said that his 20 years of experience as a politician and in government had positioned him for election as the next governor of the state.
He recalled how he repositioned several roads in the state when he was the commissioner for works as well as his impacts on the lives of people when he was the secretary to the state government and enthused that his good dres would speak for him in the election.
Akinbade, who also promised to unveil his manifestoes very soon, emhasised that he has the will and wherewithal to win the election.
He said the people of the state had suffered seriously in the hands of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration, with civil servants and pensioners receiving half salaries and living in penury.
He charged the executive members of the party to ensure emergence of a candidate that will be acceptable to the populace.
“The people of the state are waiting for us and we can not afford to disappoint them. I want to appeal to us to let our campaigns be issue-based and we should avoid character assassination. I want to also appeal to the party to embark on orientation of the people on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Cards,” Akinbade said.
“As I speak to you, over 400,000 cards have not been collected and this gives me a great concern,” he stated.
