By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

Four inmates have reportedly been killed at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kosere Area, Ile-Ife, during an attempted jailbreak.

It was gathered that the incident happened around 9:00am on Tuesday.

A source who did not want to be named, said that some inmates had planned to escape during the morning sanitation and while attempting to flee the centre, injured a warder.

The jailbreak attempt was said to have been repelled by security operatives who immediately killed the inmates that led the plan.

The spokesperson of the state correctional service, Sola Adeotan, said the details of the incident was not available to him.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident but pleaded for more time to get the details.
