The Chairman Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Professor Muritala Awodun has debunked the rumour making round that some management staff of KWIRS has been invited for questioning in line with mismanagement of fund by Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
He maintained that governance can not be done without revenue generation, adding that politics is over now governance must be faced.
Professor Awodun made this disclosure at the media parley held at the Kwara state Ministry of Information and Communication, in Ilorin on Thursday.
“Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has never invited KWIRS Staff for questioning it’s a cooked up propaganda, it’s peculiar to Kwara State.”
He noted that the present administration has laid a good foundation of revenue generation,the only thing left is to build on it by incoming administration.
The academia turned tax collector said Kwara state government has prioritized salary payment which has made revenue generation easier.
Awodun added that Kwara state has rose from 17th position while generating N7.2 Billion in 2016 on states revenue generation chart to10th in 2017 and to 9th in 2018 which shows Kwara has improved in terms of revenue generation.
The Executive Chairman said the agency has generated N6.279 Billion in the first quarter of the year.
In his remarks the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication Alhaji Muhammad Sabi, commended the Administration of Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed for transparency.
