Surulere Councillor Suspended Over Alleged Assault On APC Ward Chairman

The legislative arm of Surulere Local Government has suspended one of its members, Ajibola Ajala, for allegedly assaulting the Ward F Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Shola Ali.

Ajala’s suspension was announced in a statement by the council’s legislative arm, which was made available to our correspondent.

According to the statement, Ajala was accused of assaulting the ward chairman over bags of rice shared among members.

The controversial bags of rice were received from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, for the ward.

The legislative Council, which condemned the actions displayed by their member, placed him on an indefinite suspension.

They also set up a four-man panel to investigate and ascertain the circumstances that led to Ajala assaulting Ali.

The panel has the legislative arm’s Deputy Leader, Adebisi Adebayo, as chairman while Bunmi Philips and Abdulrahman Olayiwola will serve as members. Eric Otinwa will serve as the secretary for the panel.

Inaugurating the probe panel, House Leader, Barakat Bakare-Akande, said the legislative house does not accommodate nor tolerate any form of inhuman, dastardly, and uncharitable act.
