Gov. Ahmed Presents  N157B Budget For 2019

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has laid a total of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Billion, Five Hundred and Four Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty-One (157,400,952,561) to Kwara State House of Assembly.

The budget which was laid on Thursday had an increase of increase of One Billion, Four Hundred and Sixty-One Million, Six Hundred and Twelve Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty-Two Naira (100,461,612,762) only of 1% increase compared to the 2018 Revised Budget.
According to him the sectoral allocation of 2019 Budget proposal shows that Economic affairs sector has the highest allocation of 34.6% of the total budget followed by the General Public Service Sector with 22.6% while Education and Health sectors have 18% and 17.5% respectively. This is an indication of our commitment to the priority sectors of this administration.
Gov Ahmed said the overall objective of 2019 Budget is to consolidate on the gains of the past years to ensure completion of all on-going projects across the state to ensure good welfare of the citizenry.
He therefore said, the 2019 Budget was themed Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity to reflect the determination to strengthen the finances on a sustainable basis while delivering the benefits of the associated revenue reforms to the people.
Ahmed noted that the 2019 Budget estimates are modest considering the prevailing economic situation in the country.
“In the last seven and a half years, our administration’s “Programme of Shared Prosperity” has been vigorously pursued to deliver various people-focussed programmes and projects. The impact of these programmes is felt through infrastructural development, urban and rural roads construction and rehabilitation, water supply, electrification infrastructure, improved access to education and health care, human capital development as well as strengthening of the private sector economy,” he said.
The Governor however expressed profound gratitude to the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly for its support,cooperation and excellent working relationship.
He  also commended the good people of Kwara State for the steadfast support extended to his administration despite serious challenges.
