Gov. Ajimobi’s Central Mosque Inaugurated in Oke-Ado, Ibadan


A brand new central mosque built by Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan was inaugurated on Sunday as part of activities marking his 69th birthday.

It is named Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque and is located in Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The inauguration coincided with the turbaning of the governor as Bashorun Musulumi of the state.

Present at the ceremony were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Delta and Edo States, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola; Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abduganiyy Abubakar; President, Muslim Ummah of Southwest, Dr. Zakariyyau Babalola, and Iya Adinni of Yorubaland, Alhaja Sekinat Adekola.

Also at the event were his wife, Florence Ajimobi, his children and top government functionaries.

Earlier on Saturday, a roundtable on the theme Building Institutions for Lasting Legacies was organised as part of the birthday. In attendance at the event were APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former Head of State General Gowon, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Allafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi among others.
