Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has forwarded name of another Commissioner nominee, Alhaji Lawal Ismail Ayansiju as Commissioner for the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.
It will be recalled that the appointment of the former Commissioner in the Ministry, Professor Raphael Afonja was terminated by the State Government on August 10, 2020
The Governor forwarded the name of the new Commissioner to the State Legislature on Monday in a letter to the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The Governor said the appointment was to fill the vacuum created in the Ministry since the termination of the appointment of Professor Raphael Afonja.
The letter read in part ” I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, has been decided in person of Alhaji Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis , the Rt Hon Speaker and other Honorable members are therefore requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as Honorable Commissioner ”
Reading the letter at the floor of the House, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said the screening of the Commissioner-designate would be done before the House goes on recess.
The Speaker thereafter directed the Commissioner Nominee to appear before the legislature on the 14th December, 2020 for screening.
