It was jubilation galore on Saturday when Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, inaugurated Igala Unity House and flagged off the construction of Dekina township road down to the University town of Ayingba all in Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
This is just as the governor also approved the rehabilitation of the Ejeh of Dekina Palace road in the project expected to be completed within nine months.
The Ejeh of Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje, spoke after giving royal blessing to Governor Bello, who was on a courtesy call shortly before flagging off the Dekina township road,
Governor Bello said he was committed to lifting the living standard of the people by restoring hope to the neglected people of Dekina.
“I am always happy when I intervene and help people around me, so I’m happy today that God has placed the responsibility of uplifting the standard of living of my people on my shoulder and I will not fail,” the governor said.
Speaking at Ayingba while commissioning the Igala Unity House, the governor said the house should serve as a rallying point for all Igala people.
He said the commissioning was the beginning of new thing to come for the people.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of staff to the Governor, Edward Onija, said the commissioning and the support received from Governor Bello, the entire cabinet and the state Assembly was a demonstration of the complete love Bello had for the Igala race.
He described the house as a unifying factor for the Igala race at home and in the Diaspora.
The nine kilometers road was first awarded in 2014 during the immediate-past administration of Captain Idris Wada but it was abandoned as no construction work was ever carried out since the flag-off till the end of that regime.
