The office of Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko was gutted by fire on Wednesday afternoon. But it has nt wrecked much havoc before men of the state fire service came in.
The fire occurred about the time the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, embattled Senator Ali Modu Sheriff was paying Governor Mimiko a courtesy visit.
The fire engulfed the main Council Chamber of the Executive wing of the office.
Meanwhile, the prompt intervention of fire-fighters saved the situation.
Briefing newsmen on the incident, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Commissioner for Information in the state, said it was just a fire surge that could happen any where anytime.
He commended the efforts of the men of the state’s fire service for quickly quenching the fire.
