Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun have been endorsed by groups under the aegis of Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba).
While making the endorsement on Monday at the Western Hall, Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan, chairman of the occasion, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, who was represented by Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede, disclosed that President Muhmmadu Buhari’s performance and intention earned him the second term ticket, thus, instigating the group to support the APC governorship candidates in the south west states.
Some of the bodies that endorsed the candidates are the representatives of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Market Women Association, Non Indigenes Association, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Okada Riders Association, Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Egbe Omo Odua (USA and UK), as well as Civil Society Organization led by Com. (Mrs. Kehinde Olaoni.
Otunba Ogunkeyede further explained that the administration of President Buhari which was termed ‘go slow’ after it was inaugurated in 2015 was due to the leadership of the National Assembly, which he said, consists of people with questionable characters.
He pointed out that the purpose of today’s gathering is to ensure that Yoruba states are toeing the line of progressives that is ruling in the country to ensure even development of the region. He added that the step will go a long way in guarantee the people of south west more dividends of democracy.
While endorsing All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidates of Oyo, Lagos and Ogun States, he stated that it became imperative for South Western state to align with government at the center by voting governorship candidates of APC in the Saturday governorship and House of Assembly elections to sustain the progressive’s developmental agenda as highlighted by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, which part was free education system.
The convener and Chairman Planning Committee, Comrade Awa Bamiji enjoined people in Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun States to come out on Saturday, March 9 to vote for the candidates of APC to ensure sustainability, even and rapid development of South West region.
Comrade Awa Bamiji commended President Buhari, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives for creating a level playing ground to ensure not only free and fair, but also credible election was conducted.
Alhaja Iswat Ameringun, who represented Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Comrade (Mrs.) Kehinde Olaoni and other representatives from different parts of the region expressed their opinions on why Oyo, Lagos and Ogun States should not afford to deviate from the government in power at the center, saying that they are all in support of the candidature of Adebayo Adelabu, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dapo Abiodun as governors of their respective states.
