One of the major contenders for the governorship seat in Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has dispelled the rumour that he has stepped down in his plan to rule the state for another aspirant, Sen. Folarin as being speculated in some quarters.
Akala, a Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) aspirant told newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday that such speculation was baseless, urging those behind the unfounded information not to disunite the party and turn the state to a war zone.
“I am still very much in the race. These people should not turn Oyo into a theatre of war,” he said; querying where they had heard that the governorship ticket had been given to any aspirant.
He further warned those playing the propaganda to desist from such and play politics maturely.
“Those speculations are fabricated by aspirants who are bent on achieving their aspirations through propaganda, rather than facing the reality in the interest of the party,” he added.
Akala, who had ruled the state between 2007 and 2011, is bent on staging a come back to the Agodi Government House in the forthcoming guber poll in Oyo State in 2015 amid other top contenders within the party jostling for the same position.
