Former Enugu State High Court judge, Justice Stanley Nnaji has been killed by gunmen in Enugu.
In a video circulating online, the former judge was seen being dragged out of his car on Sunday evening and moments later, three shots were fired at him.
His killers, three in number, thereafter jumped inside his car and drove away.
The late jurist was allegedly dismissed from the Bench for his role in removing Chris Ngige as Governor of Anambra State in 2007.
The State Police Command has vowed to haunt down and bring the killers to book.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement that “the Commissioner, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has ordered the launch of a full-scale manhunt of the yet-to-be identified armed assailants, alleged to have trailed and shot dead an unidentified man driving in a Mercedes Benz Jeep, which they carted away, along Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu, today being 30/05/2021 at about 1700hrs.”
He added: “The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner, while assuring that no stone would be left unturned in fishing out perpetrators of the heinous crime, has called on residents of the State to remain law-abiding, vigilant and assist the Police with useful information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the assailants.
“While the identity of the victim is still not clear, some sources said the victim is a retired judge and his name is Justice Nnaji from Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.:
