An Osogbo Magistrate court on Wednesday sentenced a herdsman, Mohamodu Zuberu (22) to four years imprisonment for kidnapping a 13-year-old boy, Tunde Abdullahi at Iwari village via Ikoyi, Osun State.
The convict was earlier arraigned and remanded on September 3, 2020, on a count charge of kidnapping.
The prosecutor, John Idoko told the court Zuberu kidnapped his victim on the 21st of August 2020 at about 3:00 am at Iwari village via Ikoyi to an unknown destination.
He said the convict thereby committed an offence punishable under section 364(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.
The convict who had no legal representation admitted guilty to a count charge of kidnapping preferred against him. The convict was said to have requested for N2million ransom and later reduced it to N350. The exhibits tendered by the prosecutor are torchlight, phone and pull over.
In his ruling, Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus after listening to the fact giving by the police and the proof of evidence convicted and sentenced Zuberu to four years imprisonment with hard labour in Ilesa correctional centre.
