A Lagos Businessman, Mr Oluwatosin Onamade, has narrated the role allegedly played by thugs loyal to one of his opponents in the primaries for the ticket of Ijede Local Council Development Area in Ikorodu, Lagos, which resulted in the gruesome murder of one of his staff, Mr. Godfrey Tony Ifeanyi Etunmuse at his office.
Onamade is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Western Funeral Home situated in Ijede area of Ikorodu division of Lagos and a chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last primaries election.
While narrating the incident to WESTERNPOST, Onamade said he was the main target of the attack but that the attackers could not get him in the office, accusing the opponent, who holds a topmost position in the LCDA of sponsoring the thugs to unleash mayhem on him.
He explained that attacks on his office had become rampant as it was not the first time his office would be attacked by hoodlums loyal to the accused.
“Attack on my office has been going on for so long. There was a time he conspired with some party executives to attack my workplace because he is interested in taking over the place. I run a private cemetery. Then, I petitioned the state chairman of the APC, Commissioner of Police and other top officials,” said Onamade.
“On that black Friday, they came to the office to attack me while I was with our supplier of marble and some private security guards. They forcefully gained entrance into the place and when they could not get me they went for my staff and one of my campaign directors, Mr. Godfrey Tony Ifeanyi Etunmuse and they also seriously macheted my blood brother, Mr. Oluwafemi Onomade and beat him to coma.
“He was also shot. Based on their comments, it showed that the hoodlums came for me.
“All what the hoodlums were saying is that ‘Onomade, you have been escaping from us, we will kill you today’ I heard them clearly shouting my name but as God will have it I escaped from the scene. All glory be to God.
“In my office, I have CCTV which captured their footage and this had been handed over to the police to aid their investigation. Personally, I can identify those that came to attack my office and those that surrounded the office environment.
“Out of eight cameras mounted, three had been disconnected and there were some of the hoodlums who came through the back view of the building to attack me. I was shot from behind but it was only God that saved me.
“After the incident, I called the Ijede police station and they examined the scene and as well saw the corpse of Godfrey. The truth is that, I had initially called the DPO of the station when the hoodlums arrived but they did not come in time. I had to call them again when they were yet to arrive the scene. They arrived after about 18 minutes of recalling them.
“They saw Godfrey’s corpse and took my brother to the hospital but when I heard the hoodlums were planning to attack him again at the hospital, I moved him to another hospital. I thank God he is alive today,” he added.
