The circumstances surrounding the murder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The King of Kings Parish at Maidan village, Mile 12 area, Lagos State, Bolanle Ibrahim have been disclosed by his wife and aunt.
The pastor was allegedly killed by gunmen who entered the church with his picture in their hand and shot him dead on the pulpit.
Wife of the late pastor, Mrs. Kudirat Ibrahim told New Telegraph that her husband was not a cultist contrary to claims going round, describing her husband as a man of God and served him till his death.
Mrs. Ibrahim said she was in the hospital to take care of her mother the incident happened, adding that nobody called to inform her that her husband had been killed.
She noted that she was even calling him to bring something for her from home, not knowing that he had been killed.
The deceased aunt, Mrs. Justina Alebiosu, who narrated how Pastor Ibrahim was killed, said the gunmen, on getting to the church where he was praying for women who brought their children for dedication, was shown his picture to identify if he was actually the right person they came for.
Alebiosu stated that Ibrahim converted from Islam to Christianity before becoming a pastor, describing his death as unfortunate.
She said her brother may have been involved in a business transaction with someone, noting that she was told that when the assailants wanted to drag him out of the pulpit where he was with the women and their children, he begged them to kill him there and was subsequently shot dead.
Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident.
He said that the police were still investigating the matter.
