The newly sworn-in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Ilorin-South in Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Jimoh Agboola has disclosed that at some points in the cause of court rulings, he almost lost hope of claiming his mandate as a member of the state ninth Assembly.

He said the outbreak of COVID-19, transfer of court of appeal judges, and other unforeseen circumstances were factors that almost dashed his hope.

Agboola made this disclosure on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen shortly after he was sworn-in as a member representing Ilorin-South by speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, 14 months after he won the election.

According to him, “Yes as a human being, I almost lost hope of claiming the mandate especially during the outbreak of COVID-19 which brought lockdown, a period of transfer of judges at court of appeal but by the special grace of God today, we have reached the destination and we are promising never to disappoint the people.”

He thanked the party leader in the state in the person of Dr. Bukola Saraki, party chairman and party stalwarts for their unwavering support till he was sworn-in.

He said, “I want to also thank the leadership of our party in person of Dr Bukola Saraki, the Party Chairman, party faithful, I want to thank the people of my constituency, Ilorin-South. They have stood by me and I pray God almighty will reward them abundantly.

According to him, “I want to thank the Judiciary, I’m a product of rule of law and this I will be preaching and uphold as we are able to achieve this due to our patience, no one has rancor with anybody, we thank God.

“Thank you so much, first, I want to thank almighty Allah for giving us this day, because today is unique, unique in the sense that, today is ninth day of February, I’m coming in as a member representing Ilorin-South in the ninth Assembly.

“My people stood by me, they showed me that Nigeria of olden days is different from Nigeria of today, they stood by me for almost fourteen months, “he said.
