The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Mr Bayo Adelabu, has expressed confidence in the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible elections, saying that he has just witnessed a peaceful electoral process since 1999.
He made the observation on Saturday, while speaking with newsmen, after casting his vote at the Ibadan South East, ward 9, unite 10, adding that he was satisfied with the level of the electoral process at the various places he visited.
He recalled that since the the country returned to civilian rule in 1999, this year’s election could be seen as being transparent, as the electorate were seeing performing their civic responsibilities without any fear.
“The level of turnout is huge as people are very interested in this election. This election will determine the future of the country by moving to the next level.
“I voted peacefully. I want to appeal to our leaders to give back to the people what they deserve.
“They should reciprocate the gesture of rendering dividends of democracy to the people.”
While speaking on certain card readers mal-functioning at some polling units, Adelabu stated that there could be no perfect system anywhere, noting that the country was just developing.
“So far so good, the process has been good with what I have witnessed and that should be replicated everywhere,” he stated.
