I “ll Leave Legacy That Successive Govts Will Struggle to Surpass – Ajimobi

By: Adeola Oladele, Ibadan
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has made it known that with the two years left for him in the saddle, he would leave a legacy that will be far beyond what any successive government could surpass in the state.
The governor made the assertion during an interactive session with Governor’s Office correspondents, while highlighting some laudable achievements of his administration in the last two years.
Ajimobi noted that some of the laudable projects he had embarked upon were not meant to gain cheap popularity, but to place the state in the rightful position among the comity of states.
He added that the fulcrum of any development is for the government in place to embark on projects that would affect the lives of its citizenry positively, adding that this had been one his achievements in office.
Not only that, the governor pointed out that since his assumption of office, he has placed the state on the tripod of transformation, restructuring and repositioning, which made him to be first governor to secure a second term in office in the state.
Highlighting some of his partnership initiatives with foreign partners in order to boost the socio-economic development of the state, Gov. Ajimobi specifically mentioned his recent visit to Songhai farms, Port Norvo, Benin Republic, where he said he had begun the process of replicating what he understudied at the farms in Oyo State, with the aim of providing a value added chain for the state.
He said the motive behind the visit to the farm was to boost the Agic-Oyo initiative of the state government with the aim of providing job opportunities for the unemployed youths and to serve as another revenue base for the state as against the over dependence on allocation from the Federal Government.
Ajimobi who said  the partnership with Songhai farms would be well motivated and sustained, added that the project would also be a research ground and centre for agro skill acquisition for the youths who wanted to make fortune in agriculture.
He painstakingly explained that Songhai integrated farms is an agricultural concept that considers agric production from a holistic perspective, from production to processing, marketing as well as training.
