Governor Ajimobi disclosed this  on Thursday  during a public lecture he delivered titled ”  Peace And Security Architecture For Sustainable Development In Oyo State”,organized by the Society For Peace Studies And Practice ( SPSP) at the University of Ibadan old Conference Centre, Ibadan.

The governor , who was also inducted as Fellow of the SPSP at the ceremony said, regardless of what people say in the papers, his administration would not be deterred from carrying out it duties and responsibilities to the people of the state.

“Regardless of what people say in the papers, we are going to work till the last day. We will award contracts till the last day, when they get to office they should cancel the contracts and if they find that we have stolen , they should arrest us,” he stated.

He equally used the medium to charge the incoming government to checkmate and ensure full legal actions against people who plan to obstruct peace and tranquility after he vacates office.

Noting security as the foundation of any government and as such for the basis for good governance, Ajimobi added that his government is leaving behind a peaceful state and optimistic that the incoming government would not loose its guards on security matters in the state.

“Don’t take us back to Egypt, you must continue see that peace and tranquility reign in the state even after I am gone,” he said.

He maintained that some hoodlums and criminals might want to raise their heads against the peace of the state after he is gone, while urging Makinde to punish and jail victims found culpable of breaching the peace and tranquility in the state.

Ajimobi further noted that the outgoing administration has created a platform of peace and security for the incoming government to leverage on, adding that the new government must sustain the achievements recorded by him in bringing peace and security to the state once regarded as a ‘state of brigandage’ in his own administration.

Highlighting the recipes of achieving peace and security, the governor noted that conflict regulation, conflict resolution, conflict management and mediation were the methods adopted by his administration to secure the peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the President of SPSP, Dr. Nathaniel Danjibo, highlighted the bold steps taking by the Ajimobi led administration to nip in the bud some of the security challenges in the state, before the advent of his government.

He explained that the feats were recorded as a result of the governor’s unrelenting efforts aimed at making the state one of the violent-free states in Nigeria.

Highlight of the event was the investiture of Fellowship award of Society for Peace Studies and Practice(FSPSP) on the governor for his sterling leadership and transformation of the state and for what they observed as his unrelenting commitment to the service of the people.
