Ibadan Accord Elders Debunk Allegation against Ladoja

The Accord Elders in Ibadanland have condemned the allegations been peddled against its governorship candidate and former Oyo State governor, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, by a faceless group, Oodua Truth Seekers, describing the group as mischievous and criminally-minded.

The elders, in a release signed by its Chairman, Prince Tunji Adeoye, and Scribe, Mr. Toyese Oladejo, said Senator Ladoja remains the only political leader who can move the state forward. They averred that out of the past and present political gladiators in the state, Ladoja is the best man for the state’s top job at present.

The elders refuted the claim that Ladoja was responsible for the crises in the state between 2002 to 2007, stressing that it was the desire of former president Olusegun Obasanjo to perpetuate himself in power for a third term that led to the crisis and that Ladoja had objected to the unconstitutional move.

They insisted that former president Obasanjo used late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu to cause series of unnecessary crises, which ultimately resulted in the illegal impeachment of Ladoja.

The Accord Elders posited that the faceless group should rather thank Senator Ladoja for prudently managing the finances of the state by paying all the salaries and pensions owed by his predecessor in office, Alhaji Lamidi Adeshina.

“It is expedient to ask this faceless group whether it is commonsensical to send people on pilgrimage while serving and senior citizens would be made to die of hunger and starvation,” the elders asked.

They maintained that Ladoja would never engage in an unwholesome practice of sacking workers as he remained an unrepentant crusader of massive youth employment.

The elders said Accord had over 100 qualified members who can contest for the governorship but settled for Senator Ladoja because he has the experience and expertise to effectively govern the state.

‘In Accord, we want to put in place a succession plan, which would allow for the steady and continued growth of the state from 2019 and beyond”.

The elders therefore appealed to the electorate in the state to disregard the faceless group, stressing that Senator Ladoja would return happiness and process back in the state.
