Thousands of people from across Oyo State on Tuesday paralyzed vehicular movement as former Secretary to Oyo State Government and immediate-past Chairman, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Barr. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli declared to contest the 2015 governorship election on the platform of Labour Party in the state.
While addressing supporters and party faithful at the LP office in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Alli was optimistic that his party would win the gubernatorial election and form the next government in the state come 2015 general election.
“The position of governor is not for tired minds. It is our turn by God’s grace to form the next government in this state. Use your votes to reject men of the old who are still parading themselves as governorship aspirants. There is no room for leaders who will be sleeping and dozing while serious works of how to develop the state are yearning for attention.
“These tired minds with old and unfashionable ideas are still parading themselves as governorship aspirants in a state where we have younger people with ideas to develop the state for the better especially now that whole world is promoting new leadership traits, for people are open to lots of visions and ready to give direction in taking the citizens to where they should be and not where they want to be.
“Time for change is now and not just change in words but in action. I represent the true change agent that you believe in and I promise to use my expertise and God given talents to move the state from the economic doldrums and excruciating poverty presently ravaging its teeming populace through aggressive agricultural development and empowerment for our women and largest percentage of our teeming youths’, he said.
Barr. Alli then promised to rejuvenate the education, health, transportation sectors and urban renewal with human face while not neglecting all-round infrastructural developments across the five geopolitical zones of the state if finally elected in the 2015 general elections.
