Igangan Monarch, Adeoye Dies In Oyo

Oba Lasisi Olawuyi Adeoye, Asigangan of Iganganland in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, is dead.

Adeoye was said to have died on Tuesday after a brief illness at a hospital in the town.

The Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Lateef Akorede, confirmed the monarch’s death.

“Yes, it’s true. Kabiyesi has joined his ancestors. He took his last breath this morning. We are yet to bury him. We just left the hospital not long ago,” he said.

Ibarapa has come under attack over the past months, with residents sustaining injuries or being killed.

On June 6, 15 people were reportedly killed when gunmen attacked Igangan town in a night raid, while several buildings were set ablaze.

During the attack, the palace of the monarch in Igangan was also razed.
