All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief Bayo Adelabu has promised the people of the state of quality governance if voted for in the March 9, 2019.
Chief Adelabu popularly known as Penkelemessi made the promise at an interactive forum with news men in ibadan, while talking on his plans and programmes to develop the state after his victory at the polls.
According to him, salaries and welfare of workers in the state would be of priority in his administration adding that the entire state is due for transformation and all round development.
“Governance is a serious business, and i am going to take it very serious. we have recycled our leaders too much, they are getting too old in the system. The office of governor is a seious one and must be treated with all seriousness. Though, it is through the help of God a leader can deliver but I believe God will help me to deliver. If I succeed it will serve as encouragement to young ones like me. Politicians are not wicked but many lack the understanding of leading and imparting into the lives of the people, I don’t blame them because they do not have the requisite knowledge to go about politics. Politics is not only about giving empowerment and materials like frigde, cooking gas, fan, grinding machines and others to the masses, but it is also to working out policies that will improve their lives”.
Chief Adelabu while thanking the people for their support in the presidential and National Assembly elections, urged them to troop out en mass to support him and the APC candidates for House of Assembly to be victorious in the election.
“My coming to APC has boosted the party. Oyo is ready for Adelabu and APC and I am assuring you of an all round development in my administration. I cannot come here and promise a sudden transformation. I want to build on what my predecessor has built and correct the shortcoming.”
According to him, his first agenda is an improved security for the people of the state adding that the second is agriculture, mechanised farming to boost food production and improve our economy.
“Industrialization, Health, urban development and many other sensitive areas of our econonmy will form part of my agenda as well as housings, we need to invest in mega housing project. The next one is education, Ajimobi has tried his best, I am going to improve the standard of education in the state. I also want our schools too to look for ways to generate internal revenue for sustainability. Government cannot remove it’s hand from funding the education. It is key to developing the economy and our people.
“We will work on the re introduction of technical education, preventive health scheme and how to manage our environment. We will improve our sanitary inspection and school feeding too will continue. We are going to work more on this then we move on to primary health care. Before the end of my four years there will be two health centers in each local government. We will also improve on the transportation system, we are going to work on this and ensure that our local road links with the trunk C road. The roads networks will be of good standard. I have the capacity to lead, I have businesses and personnels under me and I have never owed.”
