
Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been elected the new Deputy Senate President.
Ekweremadu who had held the position since 2007 returned in an arrangement entered into by the Saraki group of the All Progressives Congress, which saw to Saraki’s emergence as Senate President.

But unlike in the case of Senate President, which was unopposed. There was another nomination for the position of Deputy Senate President- Senator Nuhu Ali Ndume from Yobe.
But it was all arranged as Ekweremadu clearly defeated Ndume to retain his job.
The election was conducted by Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.
