No fewer than 10 Chinese, one Ghanaian as well as three locals have been arrested by the Osun State Officers of Amotekun Corps for their involvement in illegal mining activities in the state.

It was gathered that the illegal miners were arrested during an operation carried out by Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with the State Joint Task Force, (JTF) at different mining sites located at Itagunmodi, Igun and Ariye 1&2, all in Atakunmosa West local government area of the state.

It was further gathered that the operation which lasted two hours, was carried out following a tip-off from members of the public.

Briefing journalists after the operation, the State Director General, Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, said it was part of the commitment of Governor Gboyega Oyetola administration to rid the state of economic saboteurs.

Shittu commended the JTF comprising Nigerian Army, Air force, Navy, Police, DSS, NSCDC and Immigration for their cooperation with the Corps to make the operation a success.

It would be recalled that a similar operation was carried out earlier this month by Amotekun Osun in collaboration with the JTF leading to the arrest of 27 illegal miners then, including 17 Chinese, 10 local with a local chief among them.
